Hmmm... Creationists, ID'ers, Evolutionists, Existentialists, can we have a
few more labels to throw around?

I concur with Becky's observation that using absolutes is a dangerous
practice.

This is no different than our media and government tossing around the terms
liberal and conservative as if they were curse words.

I have no strong opinion in one direction or another. I've never met God or
any other gods so I have no definitive proof that way.

Waking up to a beautiful sunrise does not convince me of Intelligent Design
or else I'd have a dog that gets me the paper and piddles a nice hot cup of
coffee too. (just a theory).

Science has a nice track record of making really cool tools and lots and
lots of text-books to baffle people world wide, but there's still a lot we
just don't know. Not to mention I'm kind of disconcerted by scientists that
answer, "Well, we really don't know what causes X, but we hope our next set
of experiments shed some light on it." Not that it matters because most
people are just happy their shampoo wasn't tested on animals.

Let the Smithsonian show the movie. So what? Will it truly change the way
we do science? Will we need to show ontological proofs in our papers?
That'd be funny, ranking right up there with fuzzy math.

Lets face it. Regardless of how you think we got here, it really doesn't
matter. If God said it was and it was etc..... He/She saw fit to set
things in motion so scientists could have something to do. No flowers
poofing out of nowhere, but actually growing from a seed. That's pretty
cool.
If we did indeed all start as microbiological material bazillions of years
ago or drop off as comet crap (Star Stuff as Sagan put it) then all humanity
should go to Vegas at least once. I'm not discounting it, but regardless of
your bent you've got to admit the odds of our DNA coming up on the
evolutionary slot machine are pretty slim.

Can we stop the insanity? You all know the movie will be boring as all hell
and there won't be any popcorn in the lobby, so there won't be a big draw.
John Williams didn't want to do the score so we won't hear the ID soundtrack
in any elevators. Frankly, I wouldn't fret as it is usually the negative
press that actually gives fringe systems the most press. So... let's all
sit down, shut-up, and design our own non-refutable belief structure and
make millions on the talk show circuit.

Peace to all those that actually read all my ramblings,

Christopher Reeves
