MP3 players are very cheap - we've used them for our audio tour. You can also put the audio for download on your web site. In our experience the expensive and time-consuming bit was the research, writing and turning the result into a script. Time in the studio for recording, and editing (which can be done elsewhere) was pretty short. You could try to get a professional to do the voice work for free.

Best wishes

Subject: Audio Guides

Hello,

I am currently working on an upcoming exhibition and was interested in the idea of utilizing an audio guide for it. However, the price is somewhat prohibitive for us. As such, I was wondering if anyone has found alternate
methods in creating audio guides other than using the usual commercial
methods... We were thinking about making our own... but we were unsure if there is any precedent for this.
