There are also a number of other ways we need to serve the public aside from
direct visitor services - maintaining the collections for posterity,
converting a collections database, creating a publication, creating a
curriculum guide for local teachers, working on new exhibits, and
maintaining regular office functions - all of which are tough to get to when
I am providing visitor services. I don't deny that visitor services are
crucial - but providing them all week long will be in direct conflict to
fulfilling the other community service goals the board has set for us.
That's kind of the atmosphere around my original question.
