Dr. David Stewart and Mr. Calvin Mires, the Co-Principal Investigators from East Carolina University’s 2006 Fall field school, have made their final entries to their online project journal with the Museum of Underwater Archaeology (MUA). Their postings, plus the learning assessment article (see left side menu), brings the journal to a close.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank David, Calvin, and all the students for giving the MUA the opportunity to bring their words, images, and work to the public. It was a valuable exercise.

You can view the final entries by clicking this link and selecting the entry you’d like to see from the left hand menu:

Also:

Our recent survey suggested that the audience believes the best uses for the Internet beyond publishing include collaboration and research. We agree. The success of ECU’s project prompted our latest journal on Japanese Wooden Boats by Graduate Student Michelle Damian (See the “Project Journals” link off the main page: http://www.uri.edu/mua ). We feel bringing individual student projects to public and professional audiences allows for an exchange of ideas and sources and so is beneficial for all parties. We encourage students from all underwater archaeology programs around the world to consider posting their work with the MUA (contact [log in to unmask] ).

Finally stay tuned for the start of our next field school project conducted by Flinders University in Australia scheduled to begin in the next few weeks.

Best regards,

T Kurt Knoerl
