The very substantial (263 pages + 36 colour plates) report on the
December 1993 conference at the British Academy, London, on the legal,
ethical and conservation implications of the international antiquities
trade has just been published. (The conference was organised by the UK
Institute of Conservation Archaeology Section.)

The three dozen contributions include important reviews of a number of
recent USA cases, including the Kanakaria mosaics, the so-called Sevso
Treasure, and the Metropolitan's Lydian Hoard, as well as UK cases and
problems, and considerations of both current and possible future legal and
ethical issues.

The reference is:

[WARNING: beware of the intrusive capital "A" in Athens - when will they
learn?!]
