The Sweet Briar College Arts Management Program and Art Gallery in
conjunction with the Honors Program seeks candidates to fill a Jessie
Ball duPont Pre-Doctoral Fellows position during academic year
2000-2001. The Jessie Ball duPont Pre-Doctoral Scholars-in-Residence
Fellowship Program consists of one-year Fellowships for ABD
(All-But-Dissertation completed) doctoral students. Based on the
candidate pool for each year, up to four duPont fellows will be selected
based on their overall quality and skills they could bring to the
college.

Each one-year fellowship will be under the sponsorship of a sponsoring
faculty member at Sweet Briar College, and carries a stipend of at least
$12,000, plus a limited housing stipend, moving expenses, and travel.
Each duPont Fellow will teach one course per semester and participate in
the activities of the Honors Program. For more information, please
visit our web site at: http://www.honors.sbc.edu/ and contact duPont
Fellows Program coordinator Katherine Frank ([log in to unmask]) to apply.

The proposed Arts Management/Art Gallery duPont Fellow will come to
Sweet Briar with an ABD in Art History, Museum Studies, Art Education,
or Arts Management, and with a demonstrated interest in museum
management. During Fall semester 2000, the Fellow will teach one class
in the Arts Management Department and will work closely with the Art
Gallery director in the day-to-day operations of the art gallery. In
addition, the Fellow will begin assisting with the development of
exhibitions for the 2001-2002 academic year. During Spring semester
2001, the Fellow will teach a second class in the Arts Management
Department and will assume leadership of the art gallery during the
Gallery Director's sabbatical leave.

The art gallery projects will include frequent work with student
work-study projects as well as arts management practicum students who
are completing projects for academic credit. In addition, the Fellow
will assist student docents with the fall school tour program and the
annual Arts Day program. The Fellow will work closely with Art Gallery
Registraral Assistant in the production and installation end of
exhibitions creation.
