Saskatchewan's Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport is seeking
a highly motivated, energetic, multi-talented individual with strong
leadership, management, and communications skills to manage the Research
and Collections Unit at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the province's
flagship museum of natural history and the diverse cultures of our
province's Aboriginal peoples. 
 
Reporting to the Director, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, you will oversee
the operation of the Research and Collections Unit, which conducts
original research and develops, manages and conserves provincial
collections in Aboriginal History, Biology and Environmental Studies,
and Paleontology.  You will manage the Research and Collections Unit,
including the supervision of staff, development and management of
budgets, setting section objectives and monitoring progress.  As a
member of the museum's management team, you will participate in the
development and implementation of strategic and business plans and
annual budget planning; you will act on the Director's behalf during
absences.  You will take the lead role on various museum committees and
projects.  Additionally, you will coordinate the delivery of
consultative services to the Saskatchewan museum community concerning
collections management and the scientific disciplines within the
museum's mandate.
 
As the Manager of Research and Collections at the Royal Saskatchewan
Museum, you will be a strategic thinker and possess excellent
interpersonal and communications skills.  You will have a demonstrated
ability to contribute directly to research and collections development
in at least one of the museum's research disciplines and to obtain
outside funding to support museum research and collections development.
Ideally, you will have proven management skills in a museum setting.
You will have the ability to lead and work in a team setting and have
excellent financial management skills.  Knowledge and experience with
the preparation of briefing and other government documents, together
with government accounting and budget forecasting is preferred.
