The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a 
Website Editor who will be responsible for the consistency, accuracy and appropriateness of content on the site.  The primary responsibilities are working closely with the content-creating departments, primarily the curatorial, Education, and Visitor Services departments; proofreading, copyediting, reviewing all content to the Web Group for consistentency and style; creating and managing the process of producing online special exhibition previews; managing team of freelance proofreaders and copyeditors, and other related duties as required.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of two years' experience working on a website as well as previous experience with website editing.  Must be familiar with current and emerging web technologies.  Must have an understanding of and experience with Web usability issues as they pertain to user interface, information architecture, and navigational structure.  Some knowledge of HTML coding is helpful, but not required.  Editing and proofreading skills are required.  Must pass a copyediting test.  Knowledge of art historical terms and/or professional museum experience desirable.  Bachelor's degree required.
