Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

 
•     Assists Visitor Services Coordinator in the delivery of visitor services 
throughout the Newseum. 

•     Directs a team of part-time Visitor Services Representatives in the 
absence of the Visitor Services Coordinator. 

•     Responsible for familiarity with all museum galleries, exhibits, and events. 

•     Helps to plan, direct and implement all daily activities related to crowd 
flow and the visitor experience. 

•     Assists Visitor Services Coordinator with scheduling personnel. 

•     Demonstrates excellent customer-service skills and responds promptly to 
visitor needs.

•     Able to work independently and handle visitor questions without 
assistance. 

•     Provides recommendations and infrastructural guidelines to help advocate 
the visitor experience. 

•     Assists in the Visitor Services Control Room in the absence of the Visitor 
Services Control Room Operator. 

•     Works in assigned Visitor Services floor positions as needed. 

•     Responds to the needs of Visitor Services part-time staff and assists with 
breaks and lunches. 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 
•     Previous experience working with the public. 

•     Previous supervisory experience a plus. 

•     Must be a team player, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

•     Must possess excellent communication and customer-service skills. 

•     At least two years of college education or equivalent work experience. 

•     Basic computer skills and ability to write effectively.

•     Ability to work with a diverse staff and public under fast-paced, ever-
changing conditions. 

•     Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and 
evenings. 

•     Able to stand for long periods of time. 

•     Able to lift 30 pounds. 

•     The Freedom Forum/Newseum may conduct pre-employment background 
investigations on all new hires.
