Eric Siegel and John Scott have presented opposed philosophical stances
regarding this issue. Neither person noted that advertising (by profit
and non-profit alike) is now considered a permited use of Internet.
 
I would only add that once a year I post a notice for a workshop which I
teach once a year.  I am not a non-profit; if a workshop notice from me
would offend you, please set your mail program to disregard any posting from:
