The Museum of the Moving Image in New York is searching for a museum cataloger.

Position Description: The Cataloger is responsible for the cataloging and
description of the Museum Collection, creation and management of digital
imagery, and coordination of aspects of the OpenCollection collections
management software project.

Primary Functions: 
Cataloging and Information Management: Prepare and edit catalog records as
part of the Museum's ongoing Cataloging and Digitization Initiative; process
requests for collection information; update inventory-level records to
adhere to current standards.
Image Management: Scan and edit artifacts from the Museum's collection;
upload edited images to the collections management system and archive all
uploaded images; manage the scanning, storage, and tracking of images
related to the Museum's activities.
OpenCollection Project Coordination: Coordinate internal and external
piloting of OpenCollection, web-based collections cataloging, management,
and access software developed with funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

About the Museum: Museum of the Moving Image (www.movingimage.us) examines
the art, history, technique, and technology of film, television, and digital
media, and their impact on culture and society. The collection of more than
125,000 artifacts, which dates from the mid-19th century to the present,
documents the production, promotion, and exhibition of motion pictures,
television, and digital media.  

Requirements/Qualifications: Applicants should have an advanced degree in
American Studies, Media Studies, Popular Culture, History, Material Culture,
Library Science, or similar. Qualified applicants will have interest and/or
expertise in material culture history, some knowledge of cataloging systems
and information technology, strong writing and time management skills,
experience handling archival material and/or objects, and proficiency with
computers, online research, and digital imaging technology.
