Why not? I know plenty of places where you have to walk through the gift
shop(s) just to reach the exhibits. And gift shop merchandise that is
directly related to the exhibit, such as catalog, books, postcards, etc.,
would be best placed near the exhibit so the visitor doesn't miss them.
