The Adirondack Museum offers an exciting opportunity for qualified graduate students seeking internship positions during summer, fall and spring semesters. Student interns will work with a unique collection of historic photographs documenting 150 years of sport, daily life, and work in the Adirondack Park, one of the world’s most important wilderness areas.

The museum is currently accepting applications for internships in the Curatorial Department. Interns will work closely with professional curators to catalogue portions of the museum’s extensive photograph collection in Past Perfect and gain hands-on work experience.

More than 75,000 images portray virtually every aspect of life within and surrounding the boundaries of the Adirondack Park. The collection includes a wide range of nineteenth and twentieth century photographic technologies dating from the 1840s to the present. Photographers represented in the collection include Seneca Ray Stoddard, Edward Bierstadt, Henry M. Beach, Katherine E. McClellan, Alfred Steiglitz, Eliot Porter and Margaret Bourke-White.

Full-time internships are available for 12 week periods in the fall and spring semesters, 8 weeks during the summer. A stipend is offered, and on-site housing will be provided in Blue Mountain Lake NY during the summer semester. Fall and spring interns will work from their home campus.

Qualifications: Enrollment in MLS/Information Science program. Subject knowledge in history, environmental history, art history, and/or photography considered a plus. Computer skills are essential. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are required.

To apply: All applicants must submit a cover letter and resume with two letters of academic reference.

Please mail your application materials to:
