Manager of On-Site Programs
        The New York State Historical Association is looking for a dynamic
professional to lead its on-site programs through a period of growth and
renewal. Located in beautiful, rural Central New York on Otsego Lake in
Cooperstown, New York, the Association is a private, non-profit educational
institution dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting objects
significant to New York history and American culture. Chartered in 1899, the
New York State Historical Association operates Fenimore Art Museum,
exhibiting American paintings, folk art and an internationally recognized
collection of Native American Art, and a non-circulating Research Library
housing archival materials relating to New York State. The association also
has long-standing collaborative relationships with the Farmers' Museum and
the Cooperstown Graduate Program, a graduate program for museum
professionals. This position is responsible for programs at both N.Y.S.H.A.
and the Farmers' Museum.
The Manager of On-Site Programs is responsible for: developing and
implementing all on-site school programming for the Association at the
Fenimore Art Museum and the Farmers' Museum; liaison with area schools and
teachers; coordinating lectures; supervising staff of Museum Teachers and
participating as a team member in institution-wide educational initiatives.
Applicants
must possess B.A. degree in a relevant discipline, M.A. preferred; a record
of accomplishment in the museum education field and experience and knowledge
of K-12 programs and practices.
