We use a standard donation form and consider the copies (made at our
expense) or the permission to copy as the gift.  For items added to our
collection, we feel this covers it.  If they want to retain copyright, then
we don't add the item to our collection. Images that we purchase from a
commercial photographer or from another museum or similar source may be put
in a reference collection but we do not sell these images.  Instead the
person is referred to the institution that holds the image.
