this position.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the daily coordination of exhibitions and 
programs at the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery in the Purnell Center for the 
Arts. Manages 9000 square feet of gallery facilities, capital equipment and 
other inventories. Functions as the liaison to outside contractors and 
vendors for the maintenance and upgrade of facilities, equipment and 
inventories. Supervises and accommodates all exhibiting artists, artists in 
residence, guest lecturers, and performers. Directs all work-study 
students, interns and volunteers in their various roles in gallery 
docent/security and (de-) installation staff. Responsible for the security 
of artwork and safety issues in the gallery. Assists gallery director to 
ensure smooth operations of all gallery programs and public relations. 
Requires extensive knowledge of art gallery operations and facilities 
management, and some knowledge of university policies, marketing and 
financial accounting. Reports to the gallery director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of (Fine) Arts or related field or equivalent combination of 
training and experience; Drivers License; three or more years in a related 
arts registration or facilities management position including some 
supervisory experience; extensive knowledge of art gallery operations and 
contemporary art field; broad understanding of art exhibition practices 
including the use of innovative technologies; excellent written and verbal 
communication skills; strong interpersonal skills to communicate 
effectively with creative individuals from a variety of cultures and 
backgrounds; experience with design, printing, and mailing practices; 
knowledge of registration methods, crating, shipping and insuring art; 
familiarity with US. Custom and Copyright issues and laws; ability to 
handle art professionally and with archival issues in mind; financial 
accounting and bookkeeping skills; computer literacy and familiarity with 
e-mail and Internet; proficiency in PC & MAC macromedia suite, adobe 
creative suite and Microsoft office suite; broad knowledge and skills using 
and maintaining audio and video equipment and wiring, including 
multi-channel DVD, VHS, digital BETA; mastery of building construction 
methods and skills; familiarity with power tools and their safe use; 
ability to create documentation of exhibitions in 35 mm, digital and 
written formats; ability to work independently, deal with frequent changes, 
work under pressure, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines; utilize 
Oracle self-service applications; extremely mobile; monitors and maintains 
space on three floors of 9000-sq feet building; requires frequent lifting 
and moving of artwork, art displays and equipment; travel to campus and 
community locations; work is often performed in office setting with close 
contact to CRT for long periods of time; requires regular work in noisy 
gallery and areas frequently freshly painted, sanded and or speckled with 
tools (hammers, saws etc.) or electronic power tools (drills, sanders 
etc.); requires operating of other equipment such as an access-master, 
gallery light tracks, A-frame ladders and scaffolding; and the occasional 
lifting of approximately 50 lbs; ability to work in a team effort and 
collaborate effectively hands-on with creative artists, students, 
administrators and the general public; ability to work under pressure to 
meet inflexible deadlines; remain calm during difficult situations; balance 
multiple activities simultaneously and solve problems; Weekend and evening 
hours regularly required. Some travel to off campus vendors and 
organizations, artist studios and galleries or museums. The successful 
candidate must submit to a pre-employment work related exam and the 
following background checks: Education Verification, Social Security Number 
and County Criminal Report.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters in arts related field; experience in an academic setting or 
gallery/art museum setting; web design and maintenance skills using 
DreamWeaver; graphics packages such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, 
Filemaker Pro; familiarity with regional arts and cultural communities.
