The program at the National Gallery is quite similar to the Cleveland
rules, except that the application process is more involved (including
work samples, recommendation letters and interview) and the copyists are
provided easels, drop cloths and stools. I am not sure how most treat
their programs but it was created for long term copying rather than per
painting.

Subject: Copying master works

Hello,

I am curator of collections in a small regional museum. A local artist
has
requested permission to copy a historical oil painting currently hanging
in
our permanent collection gallery.

Can anyone give me some basic parameters for this kind of activity, or
direct me to a source? So far I've not found guidelines on the internet.

Thank you in advance.
