I have an excellent book called, simply, "Sand". It is large-format and
beautifully illustrated, presenting many highly technical geological aspects of
sand in an extremely inspiring way. It might well be a useful source of ideas
and inspiration to you, if nothing else.

Sand. Author : Raymond Siever. Publisher : Scientific American Library. ISBN
0-7167-5021-X

By the way, let me know if you need any help with hands-on exhibits. You might
