> Position Description:   Museum Educator

> The International Spy Museum seeks a dynamic individual to teach and support student, educator, and youth/family programs.  This full time position also includes support for adult programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent teaching and communication skills (both written and verbal) and a strong grasp of museum education.

> Responsibilities:

> 

> ·         Teach programs for a variety of audiences including teachers, students, families and children.

> 

> ·         Provide support for all programming (includes evening, weekends and occasional overnights).

> 

> ·         Manage the supplies for youth programming.

> 

> ·         Support the Group Sales Department in their ability to reach the student market by: representing the Museum at conferences, providing data and statistics, and developing collateral.

> 

> ·         Work under the supervision of the Youth Education Director to assess the local school and teacher market to obtain data and make recommendations on museum program and ticket pricing, sales goals, and best practices (internal and external) for that market.

> 

> ·         Work under the supervision of the Youth Education Director to form and strengthen relationships with local school districts (teachers, administrators, and PTA reps) with the goal of expanding the number of schools participating in the on-site student and teacher programs.

> 

> ·         Liaise with student and teacher groups and after-school programs in both the local metro area and across the country (excluding large tour operator groups) to book onsite workshops and programs and coordinate program logistics.

> 

> ·         Assist with the development of new curriculum resources and onsite programming.

> 

> Minimum Education Required

> Masters in Education/Museum Education preferred. In the absence of a graduate degree substantial relevant work experience will be taken into account.

> Minimum Experience Required

> 2+ years teaching experience

>

> ·         Excellent teaching ability with demonstrated skills in using innovative, dynamic, learner-centered techniques in informal settings

> 

> ·         Experience with educational resource development

> 

> ·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

> 

> ·         Strong planning and organizational skills

> ·         Strong analytic skills

> 

> ·         Excellent grammar and proofreading skills

> 

> ·         Excellent follow-up skills

> 

> ·         Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

> 

> ·         Ability to work with multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines

> 

> ·         Proven ability to work collaboratively with others

> 

> ·         Good problem solving and creative thinking skills

> 

> ·         Ability to exercise sound judgment

> ·         Ability to make timely decisions

>
