Although I agree that she(and everyone) should be careful, this may not be phishing. Treat such things with caution at all times, but also pay attention.

Ever since Ebay acquired PayPal (about a year ago), they have required that PayPal accounts be verified with a real account. The main, and secure, Ebay site will give you all the necessary information.

My account is verified in exactly this way, and it was indeed required to maintain a functional level of use. PayPal becomes a real pain, as does Ebay, if you are not "verified".

Tasha,

It is a phishing expedition. Do not reply. We received the same type of
e-mail and our IT department (our museum is on a college campus) told
everyone not to open the e-mail and if someone already had done so, they
were not to reply.

We were told recently that our Pay Pal account (used to purchase off ebay)
needed to be verified with a bank account information. Unless we do so,
we
will not be able to use Pay Pal. Our finance office is reluctant to give
out bank account information and have it be used as a default funding
source. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you solve it.

Tasha Baxter
