At the Homestead Museum, we've divided our collection into three broad
categories based on their required level of supervision:  1.  requires
curatorial supervision;  2.  requires staff (paid or volunteer)
supervision;  3.  requires no supervision.   For more details on this
system, see the journal Curator for an article entitled, "Hands-On or
Hands-Off?" (1991?).
