Some of the photographic holdings of the Commercial Museum ended up in the
History of Photography Collection at the Smithsonian Institution.  I've never
looked into this any further, but I wouldn't be surprised if other materials
were dispersed throughout other Smithsonian departments as well.  You might
try contacting the office of the registrar at the National Museum of American
History for further information.
