Melissa: There are plenty of internship programs in museums across the
country. Some are formal internship programs, others are more loosely
organized. The Milwaukee Public Museum has had a formal internship program
since 1991 and places an average of 45 interns a year (high school and
college) in several departments of the museum. Almost all the positions are
unpaid. If you (or others) would like more information, feel free to contact
me at 414.278.6157 or [log in to unmask]

Subject: Internship Programs

I am the intern coordinator at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and
Museum in Cooperstown, NY. I would like to connect with other museum
professionals who work with interns or who have an established intern
program at his/her museum. I have searched the archives of this list serve
and AAM's website and am surprised to find no information on internships,
other than internship positions openings. I'd like to know if there are
others out there dedicated to intern education in the museum.
