 No, Ivy, it's not an urban myth, it's the truth. And it happened in San
Diego during the Republican convention. The news commentators noted that
there was "no known connection" with the political activities. Anyway, I
don't mean to make light of this tragic event, but it certainly gives a
new meaning to the concept of "defending your dissertation." Nothing
like defending it with a pre-emptive strike. Apparently the student
killed the professors because he THOUGHT they were going to attack his
thesis, and he didn't want to hear it. --David Haberstich
