Just so you know, it is not a stain but a saturation of water underneath
the finish. Any of these methods will seem to work but will really just be
saturating the local area with an oil that will most likely eventually
darken. Also the abrasive material used will destroy the finish. This is
fine for quick at home jobs, but I would suggest looking into asking a
local furniture conservator.
