Robyn and John Davis Curator
The Nantucket Historical Association seeks a highly motivated and qualified
individual for the position of Robyn and John Davis Curator.  The chief
curator, in support of the NHA mission of preservation and education, will
lead the curatorial department and have oversight of the association’s vast
collections and exhibitions.  The chief curator is responsible for the
management, research, and interpretation of the NHA’s holdings of fine and
decorative arts, historic and prehistoric artifacts, historic structures,
and research library and archival holdings.  The NHA’s 23 properties include
the recently expanded Whaling Museum, 1800 House, six historic properties,
and other sites.  Candidates should have a master’s degree in a relevant
field; five to seven years of experience in an organization of similar size
and, preferably, similar focus; demonstrated successful management and
supervisory experience; experience in developing and monitoring budgets;
demonstrated experience in fund development and revenue enhancement; success
as a spokesperson and promoter of heritage; creativity and imagination,
combined with a sense of humor and excellent writing, researching, and
planning skills.
