Dear Renee,

The potential pitfalls of multiple-user interactives is covered in a recent article in Curator:

"Designing wiht Multiple Interactives: Five Common Pitfalls", by Sue Allen and Joshua Gutwill
Curator 47(2) pp199-212, 2004

One of the case studies in this paper is an interactive exhibit where multiple users interfered with each other and the phenomenon being exhibited.

In fact this whole issue of Curator is dedicated to interactives, and may be of interest.

Best,

Regan

Subject: group-based interactives

Hello All,

I am looking for information on group-based
learning interactives: i.e., those interactives
that are designed for use by single visitors as
well as multiple individuals (families, school
groups, etc).

I am interested in examples of actual exhibits
(past or present, successful or unsuccessful)
that take this approach, as well as any
literature (articles, books) or contacts that may
have further information on this topic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is
a component of my graduate thesis work! Thank
you very much.

Cheers,

Renee' Mensing-Solick
