NAGPRA Grants for FY1997

     Application guidelines for FY1997 NAGPRA grants have recently been
     distributed to over 2000 museums, Indian tribes, Alaska Native
     villages and corporations, and Native Hawaiian organizations. The
     application procedures are similar to previous years. The NAGPRA Team
     staff is available to discuss grant ideas and review draft proposals.
     Applications from Indian tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations must
     be postmarked by December 6, 1996. Applications from museums must be
     postmarked by December 20, 1996. Funding is contingent on
     Congressional appropriation. Copies of the guidelines can be obtained
