The Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center is proud to offer a one-day
training seminar for early childhood educators. "Creating Collections with
Young Children" will examine how you can use collections to enrich your
classroom experience.

Young children are natural born collectors. Whether it is toys, stuffed
animals, rocks, dolls or coins, children collect objects as a way of
understanding the world around them. Develop this innate curiosity by
creating collections in the classroom that combine literature, art and
objects and introduce children to the magic of museums.

Through hands-on experience and museum visits, this one-day seminar will
use collections to help children develop sorting, classification,
observation, and analytical skills. Enrich your curriculum by developing
collections that incorporate math, science, history, and language arts.
Explore the world through real objects by learning to create meaningful
collections in the classroom. That is what "Creating Collections with Young
Children" is all about.
