PROGRAM DIRECTOR. Historic Locust Grove, Louisville, Kentucky, is a
circa-1790, AAM-accredited, National Historic Landmark with 11 buildings and
gardens on 55 acres, managed by Historic Locust Grove, Inc., a 501(c)
Kentucky nonprofit corporation, and owned by Louisville Metro Government.
Locust Grove seeks a Program Director with creativity, energy, and a passion
for history to work with the Executive Director, professional staff, and a
large corps of enthusiastic and skilled volunteers. The Program Director is
responsible for all aspects of education and other interpretive programs and
special events (scheduling, content, and evaluation), including school
programs, camps, teacher outreach, adult programs including concert and
lecture series, and the Hands-On History Center. The Program Director
recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer docents and interpretive staff,
with the Volunteer Steering Committee. The position requires an M. A. or
equivalent experience in museum studies, history, or education, and
educational or programming experience in a comparable position. Ability to
work with all ages is essential. Must have excellent time management and
organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
