STUDY INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE OR HERITAGE MANAGEMENT AT THE IRONBRIDGE
INSTITUTE, U.K.

Applications are still being accepted for full time, part-time or
modular study commencing October 1997.

The Ironbridge Institute is a collaborative venture between the
University of Birmingham and the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, based within
 the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site.  It offers modular postgraduate Diploma
 and Masters courses in Heritage Management and Industrial Heritage.

MA/POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HERITAGE MANAGEMENT
The Ironbridge Institute's Heritage Management course was the first
of its kind in Britain, and it continues to offer a focused professional training.
Module I     Heritage Management
Module II    Heritage Marketing
Module III   Heritage Finance
Module IV   Heritage Interpretation

MA/POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE
A hybrid of the Institute's Industrial Archaeology course, focusing
on the management and conservation of our industrial heritage.
Module I       Industrial Heritage
Module II     The Heritage of the Industrial Revolution
Module III    The Heritage of Modern Industrial Society
Module IV    Heritage Interpretation

Each of the three week modules features guest lectures from the best
available practitioners, field work, personal tutorials and comprehensive study materials.

Individual modules of either course may be taken as part of a
programme of Continuing Professional Development.

ACCREDITATION
The Heritage Management course is validated by the Museum Training
Institute and listed as an MTI approved course which is considered as
offering "a vocational education relevant to employment in the museum, galleries and
heritage sector".  The course is also recognised as a qualification for membership of the Institute of Field Archaeologists.
