PROJECT MANAGER, PUBLIC OPINIONS ON SCIENCE USING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES
(POSIT), MIT Museum-Teacher Education Program (part-time, 75%), to assist in
launching POSIT, an education program that will facilitate active social
learning about issues that cut across science, technology, and society. 
POSIT will support group exploration of real-world issues and challenges
whose resolution requires evaluating many different kinds of data
(scientific, technical, ethical, political, etc.). Groups will be briefed
about the particular challenge to be solved and use a wireless hand-held
computer to develop solutions collaboratively. Will work on the pedagogical
and design aspects of the POSIT scenarios by developing content, providing
relevant research, and coordinating and running scenarios with students and
classes. Duties include working closely with POSIT technical manager to
implement augmented reality (AR) technology for scenario-based educational
interaction; working with TEP staff to support undergraduate research on
content development for scenarios for MIT students; working with MIT Museum
and TEP staff to develop scenarios for use by high school students in grades
9-12; developing and implementing design of POSIT scenarios; coordinating
the piloting AR technology with a variety of audiences; assessing use style,
and effectiveness of AR technology with targeted audiences; scheduling,
coordinating, and facilitating program with undergraduate and high school
groups through Spring 2006; and keeping detailed records of work and
research performed for use in project reports and publications. Will report
to the Museum's director of exhibitions and public programs. 

REQUIREMENTS: a B.A./B.S. in educational technologies, communications, media
studies, or related field; and one to two years' experience serving K-12 or
academic audiences using educational technologies. (Schedule to be
