It also depends on the type of floor.  Wash the affected area with any good 
detergent/water (I'm assuming that it is a relatively small area).  Then, 
pet stores sell a spray for neutralizing pet odors, including urine.  Spray 
the area with this.  As long as you don't put collections right on top of 
the area, there should be no significant effect on them.  Remember, the 
spray is made for use around your pets and kids, so it's harmful chemicals 
are kept to a minimum.  DON'T spray collection objects (of course, you knew 
that, it's just a standard disclaimer)!  Good luck.
