To all the Museum Listers:

Season's Greetings. We are finishing a new museum at the Bangko Sentral ng
Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines) compound on Roxas Boulevard in
Manila. The museum (set to open Jan 4, 1999) contains the coin collection
of the Central Bank which has been transferred from its old site in Quezon
City. There are also related pieces from the Central Bank's extensive
collection of Philippine art and antiquities. In the same compund is of
course our country's premiere gallery of art, the Metropolitan Museum which
houses among other things the Central Bank's gold collection.

Among the new Museums in Manila are the National Museum (rennovations
ongoing) and the Museo ng Maynila (city museum). Other new museums near
Manila include the Aguinaldo House in Kawit (refurbished for the Centennial
of Philippine Independence) and the Geronimo De los Reyes Museum in Gen.
Trias town which showcases an incredible collection of vintage photographs,
old books and maps, and Chinese art.

If you are ever in the Philippines and want to see the latest exhibits
please visit these places!
