I am posting this on behalf of the Augusta Museum of History; please contact

The Augusta Museum of History is seeking a full-time, professional executive
director with a passion for history.  The museum is a private, non-profit,
69,000 square-foot regional history museum located on the Riverwalk in
downtown Augusta, Georgia.  The museum also manages the historic house
museum, 1797 Ezekiel Harris House. The museum employs a staff of 15 full and
part-time employees. It has an active membership of over 800.  The
successful candidate will possess the following skills and characteristics:
strong background in historical institution (museum, house, etc.)
management; excellent organizational skills; ability to work effectively
with local government; proven short- and long-term strategic planning skills
that are innovative and future focused; ability to create synergy in
volunteer and staff relationships; capacity to maintain strict quality
standards while embracing creativity and flexibility; strong work ethic with
enthusiasm and dedication to step into multiple roles.  The successful
candidate will meet the following requirements: Master's degree in museum
studies, American history, or other related field or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 6 years management experience is preferred.   Proven
fundraising, financial/budgetary management, grant writing and marketing
skills are essential.  Excellent public speaking, interpersonal
communication and writing skills are required.  Send cover letter and resume
