I interned at the Met (the Cloisters) two years ago--
Columbia University has short term (summer) housing in
a very nice apartment building on campus. Housing is
restricted to students who are interning in the city
(you have to send them a copy of your student id and a
letter proving you're an intern.) There's lots of
interns there-- a fun place to live, _really_ well
air-conditioned, and very clean. Most of the people
from our program wound up coming over to our place a
lot.

The only drawback was that it was expensive by my
standards, although not by New York's-- $800/mo. If
you are interning at a museum, I might also check
their newsletter. Often employees will post that they
have rooms, etc. available for the summer (or entire
alaprtments, if they are leaving for the summer.) Hope
this helps-

Emily Mark
