BRAVO!!!!  I wanted to say this myself but was afraid I'd offend someone.
This group has had considerable discussion about increased traffic and the
need to either break the group into smaller groups or abbreviate posts.

I've noticed a lot of messages that sound like the old days of CB radio. I
used to commute in traffic and listen to commuters ask for time checks
until finally everyone finally got tired of looking at their wristwatch for
those who didn't want to bother to do so.

For a profession that makes it's living doing extensive research, there
seems to be a serious lack of knowledge about how to use a search engine.

Enter "weather" and you'll get more information on the weather than you
ever would want to know.
Use the CNN Interactive site and you'll find the weather past, present and
future.
Type" Ripley's Believe it or Not" and you'll probably get their address.

And I don't even have a Ph D.

I shouldn't be so sarcastic but it is important that we do something to
either cut the traffic on this list by cutting the unnecessary messages or
mark the subject line so we can choose to read it or not to read it.  I had
133 messages today when I checked my mail and close to ten of them would
not have been necessary if the poster looked the item up themselves on a
search engine.

Also--There ARE some people who simply don't know how to do a search.  So
some of us feel compelled to help.  It would be useful if when you posted
something like "How do I find the weather information?" post that you say
in your message that you DID try Lycos or Yahoo and were unsuccessful so
those of us who want to help don't waste our limited time only to find that
you already did the basic leg work. Sarcastic posts by disagreeable people
like me shoudl never inhibit you from asking even the dumbest question.  We
all do it on a regular basis. One man's dumb question is another's area of
expertise.
