Jersey City Museum

The Jersey City Museum seeks an experienced professional with vision and
strong management skills to lead the Museum through its next stage of
development.  Founded in 1901, the Museum's collections encompass 19th and
20th century art and historical material, with an increased emphasis on
contemporary art and exhibitions that reflect the cultural diversity of New
Jersey and the United States.  In May 2001, the Museum moved into a
renovated building in the Van Vorst Historic District with greatly expanded
galleries, collection storage areas and educational facilities.

Candidates must have a proven track record in fundraising and endowment
development, capital campaign and budget administration, and staff
management.  This position requires an individual who is experienced and
effective in attracting significant funding, and in developing strong
relationships with a wide range of individuals, corporations, and
governmental agencies.  Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive
Director is responsible for a $2 million operating budget, and administers
and further develops policies relating to collections management,
exhibitions, educational programming, audience development, and overall
museum operations.  Graduate degree and 5-8 years' experience in leading an
organization in a diverse, complex urban environment.  Museum or visual arts
experience preferred.  Salary commensurate with experience and excellent
