Position Title:   Regional/National Development Coordinator
Reports to:    Manager of Development

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus three to five years of
development experience, preferably in an arts organization. Excellent
written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to
create PowerPoint presentations and use other technologies to make
presentations are essential. Knowledge of "the funding world," strong
organizational skills, and an ability to handle detail are also necessary.
Knowledge of contemporary visual and performing art forms is desired.

BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for expanding all aspects of regional and national development*
for the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, including membership, corporate and
foundation funding, and governmental grants.

*"Regional and national development" will encompass current and potential
funding sources beyond the immediate six-county area.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
The regional/national development coordinator shall report directly to the
Arts Center’s manager of development but shall work closely with the
director of JMKAC in determining priorities and in developing proposals and
presentations. The coordinator will also work with appropriate board
committees and individual board members to accomplish his/her responsibilities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
--Conduct that portion of membership campaigns that deals with
regional/national constituencies, building upon the materials and systems
used for the local campaigns when possible.
--Foster relationships with regional/national corporate, foundation, and
individual donors, including the successful identification, cultivation, and
stewardship of prospective funding sources.
--Produce written funding proposals, the process to include researching
funding needs and potential funding sources; making appropriate matches;
writing; editing; and proofing; and maintaining contact with funding sources
as appropriate.
--Develop and make verbal and audio-visual presentations to potential and
current funding sources.
--Serve as grants administrator:  maintaining records; monitoring deadlines
for proposals and reports; writing reports; acting as liaison to granting
organizations; acknowledging gifts, etc.
--Works with the Audience Development Department, programming departments,
and others to enhance JMKAC's visibility and reputation on regional and
national levels and to develop partnerships.
--Coordinate the development of adjunct councils to further the financial
development and mission of JMKAC.
--Provide assistance, as needed, with other Development Department
responsibilities.
