This message is being posted to museum-l by the American Association of
Museums.

On Sunday, September 18, David S. Reed of Reed Public Policy posted a
message to museum-l regarding various sources of statistics.

Mr. Reed made false statements regarding AAM's data survey. We will post
a reply to museum-l once we have analyzed Reed's statement in detail.

Meanwhile, we point out that Reed Public Policy acted as consultant to the
"National Needs" study that he recommends to museum-l. 36 pages of the
report are printed with a "Reed Public Policy, Inc." footer.

We apologize for taking your time, but we do need to reply to statements that
mischaracterize both us and our work.
