Hello Sheila,
We are an exhibit design firm near Washington DC. I sent your info to our
preservationist and this was his reply:

Yeah, this is not really a conservation issue. The closest person to a
specialist would probably be the Curator at USF& W...Fish & Wildlife. She's
at
the Conservation Center in Sherperdstown WV.

She's a smart cookie who may be able to answer that issue of at least direct
to someone else.

Plan B...internet search for AIC in Washington DC.  I think it's called COOL
, conservators on line.  American Institute for Conservation of Art and
Historic Works. They have a listing of Conservators in Private Practice ...

Plan C   My neighbor raises African Hooded Cranes and may know a source for
preserving the nest or displaying them. I'd be happy for Shelia to take a
couple of these off his hands. Imagine a 4 foot rooster every morning!  OK,
imagine a couple more.
