Hi Lisa,

There are quite a few excellent sites on the web that can give you much perspective on this issue. Of course, you may have to add site specific information, but other issues like risk management, evaluation, "releasing" a volunteer, etc. are "boiler plate" issues. Check out these
URLs:

http://www.tenet.edu/volunteer/manage/index.html (Texas Education Network)

http://www. casanet.org/program-management/volunteer-manage/index.htm (National CASA Association)

http://iciclesoftware.com (Volunteer Organization Legal Handbook) Check out the Risk Management section , Part II on volunteers.

http://energizeinc.com/ (For leaders of volunteers)

Good luck. Hope this helps. It's a lot of reading but these sites are quite comprehensive. If you wish I could send you a little site specific guide I prepared for our volunteers...it's nowhere near complete but it addresses some other issues (like parking, emergency numbers
etc.) that are sometimes taken for granted by the larger institution-wide documents.
