A client wants to add a burlap-covered board inside a display case for
temporary exhibits that might include an assortment of historical objects of
various materials, books, works on paper etc.and is considering Homasote
with a burlap fabric (tightly wrapped not glued). The case itself has been
constructed with Medex (sp) board but a softer product for this interior
panel is needed.

Is standard Homasote an acceptable product from a conservation standpoint?
Their website claims they are formaldahyde-free, but I know that may not
mean it is good for this application.

Are there any tackable (not too hard) products that are reasonably available
that should be considered as alternatives?
