Summer Internships in Museum Studies at Strawbery Banke
Summer 2006 Opportunities:
Archaeology: Assist with a research excavation supervised by Strawbery Banke's Chief Archaeologist.  Help to plan and deliver a field study school, assist with the excavation, and record and preserve discoveries.

Museum Education: Develop and deliver curriculum for our unique summer history camp programs. Explore techniques in teaching, from incorporating material culture to designing interactive experiences for a variety of  learning styles. Assist with development of new interactive discovery center. 

Development: Work with members, donors, and volunteers to build continuing support for the museum's mission. Participate in outreach and cultivation efforts.

Marketing/Communications: Aid in implementing archiving systems for photos, press clippings and advertising collateral. Maintain media list and assist in marketing projects. coursework in marketing, advertising, journalism, or communications desired. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel a must; design software and history/museum knowledge and interest a plus. 

Historic Landscapes/Horticulture: In our period gardens and landscapes, cultivate and use heirloom plant varieties and traditional gardening skills. Assist in site planning and curriculum development for the Victorian Children's Garden. 

Collections: Assist curators and archivists in all aspects of collections, including cataloguing, research, preservation, and exhibition. Work with a significant collection of objects representing three centuries of New England craftsmanship and use.

Internships are awarded on a competitive basis.  Internships may include housing, sipends, and field study opportunities.
