Duties: Dynamic museum in Historic Downtown Abilene with multifaceted
history and art collections in an historic building seeks experienced
full-time team-oriented Curator of Exhibitions and Collections.
Curatorial responsibilities include implementation of museum's
collection management policy, developing and overseeing temporary and
permanent exhibitions, and organizing exhibition schedule of both
history and art collections.
Required Qualifications: M.A. in museum studies, history or art history
and minimum of three years’ professional museum experience in
collections management and exhibition development. Must have strong
administrative, organizational and budget management skills, superior
written and verbal communication skills, ability to work on multiple
projects in fast-paced work environment, and commitment to team-based
organizational culture. Time management skills essential. Must possess
the ability to work collaboratively with staff, artists, collectors,
volunteers and public.
Salary Range: $30,000 - 33,000 based on qualifications and
experience. Benefits include relocation allowance, full health
coverage with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, generous vacation and holiday
time, and retirement program.
