Thanks to all of you who sent me information on coordinators of
regional mentoring efforts. Hopefully, I will find the time to
actually call these people. I received many responses but they all
pointed to Mountain Plains and NEMA--are these the only two regions
   with mentoring programs?

However, I NEED more information...certainly, if these efforts are
on-going in the regional associations, there MUST be people who
have been involved with them. I would really love to get some
feedback from you. Tell me what you think--tell me what kinds of
experiences you got from being involved, whether you were involved
in the organization, you were a mentor, or you were a
"mentee". For those of you who have taken part in other mentoring
programs outside of AAM or the regional museum associations, please
feel free to respond as well. All ideas are good ideas, all
thoughts will be considered, all suggestions taken seriously...
I have recently been appointed the chair of the Registrars
Committee (AAM) Mentoring Task Force and am feeling very proud and
honored and scared to be named as such. I feel that since I am an
early-career professional, my thoughts for goals and objectives
will serve to address the frustrations that I (and others in my
situation) feel while neglecting other parts of the professional
community. I would like to get an idea of what kinds of things
well-established professionals would like to see from a mentoring
program in order to incorporate them. You need not be a registrar
to respond to me (although if you are, GREAT!!) because ideas from
all over can be incorporated into this effort.

Please feel free to respond to the list in general if you feel
everyone could benefit from your response. If you do, however, I
ask that you also cc your response to my personal email address
(listed below) as I am "digested" and find it hard to wade through
all the messages to get the ones pertaining directly to my query.

   Thanks again.
   Jennifer
