Paper Conservator
The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens

The Huntington invites applications for the position of Paper Conservator in
the Preservation Department's Conservation Lab for Works on Paper,
Photographs, and Illuminated Manuscripts. The position is an exempt, full
time, regular staff position.

Responsibilities: The Paper Conservator examines, documents, and treats
works on paper, according to the AIC Code of Ethics. The Paper Conservator
houses collections items, maintains object treatment and exhibition records,
and contributes to collections surveys. The Paper Conservator also
participates in departmental activities such as educational programs,
emergency response, environmental control, and the implementation of plans
for a new conservation facility.

Qualifications:
*       Masters degree, certificate in Conservation or an undergraduate
education plus a combination of equivalent training and experience in the
conservation of paper-based materials.
*       A minimum of 2 years experience working in a museum conservation
facility.
*       Skill in the treatment of paper-based materials as demonstrated by a
portfolio.
*       Computer literacy and research skills.
*       Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
*       Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

is a private, non-profit institution dedicated to advanced scholarly
research in British and American history, art, and literature, combined with

collections of British, Renaissance, and American art, rare books, and
illuminated manuscripts, as well as 150 acres of botanical gardens.
