i am so sorry for the wrongful analogy! i meant no offense to Texans at
ALL!!! i was confused as to the aquisition of Texas-- i thought that
technically we helped Texas gain its independance in an understanding that it
would then join the union when it met the requirements, in effect taking
Texas by military force.

ps i think pretty much all states require state history in middle school
(actually, we had it in 5th grade), and i'm pretty sure that whatever state
in which you spend your formative years is considered home to many people.
