At our university gallery we do not "sell" the work on temporary loan. We
keep a price list at the gallery desk if it is for sale and if anyone
inquires we give it to them. We do not promote sales and we take no
commission if a work sells. We put the prospective buyer directly in
contact with the artist and we do not get in the middle. If the work sells
it cannot leave the gallery till the end of the show. For us to sell would
become an accounting nightmare in the univ. bureaucracy. I like the high
road where the art is for education, enjoyment and introspection instead of
for sale.

Albert Sperath, Dir. Univ. Art Gal.
