Senior Development Officer for Planned Giving

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a Senior Development Officer for Planned Giving.  This person, who reports directly to the Deputy Chief Development Officer for Planned Giving and Administration, will participate in every aspect of a comprehensive planned giving program including: identifying, cultivating and tracking prospects; marketing planned giving concepts; drafting planned giving proposals; soliciting and stewarding planned giving donors; coordinating planned giving events; working as an integral part of the current campaign staff; and acts as primary planned giving liaison to Counsel's Office on bequest gift acknowledgment and tracking.  Primary responsibilities and duties include: writing and aiding in the execution of various planned giving marketing materials for brochures, newsletters, and various donor and member literature; handling bequest administration, maintaining completed planned gifts and service planned giving donors, drafting planned giving proposals, devising and implementing systems for cultivation, stewardship and prospect and donor tracking on the PledgeMaker System, and other related duties as required.

Successful candidates will possess 3-5 years experience in development with previous planned giving experience, strongly preferred.  Must have knowledge of specific deferred gift vehicles and tax implications of outright and deferred gifts.  Must be able to interact with legal and financial professionals, donors and other fundraising staff to negotiate gift arrangements.  Must be comfortable working with high-level donors and board members, and have the ability to establish an immediate rapport with individuals interested in supporting the work of the Metropolitan.  Must have the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.  Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.  Strong analytical and computer skills are required.  Bachelor's degree required.  Some knowledge of donor databases and previous experience with PledgeMaker, preferred.
